Valerie van der Wilden: her role at Occupier Performance

You might think that real estate is all about square meters.
Think again.

Whether an organization is growing, renewing, or rethinking its strategy, BRiQ Occupier Performance ensures that a location not only functions, but truly works for the end user. The team connects identity to space and ambitions to square meters.

Real estate is dynamic because society is constantly evolving. Hybrid working, AI, accessibility—these are just some of the factors we consider. At Occupier Performance, the team collaborates, fills in the blanks, makes the match, and ensures that it remains a lasting match.

Valerie on her role within Occupier Performance:

“In my role at Occupier Performance, I guide and advise end users on real estate matters, particularly in lease and acquisition processes. Over the past five years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients, ranging from law firms and fashion brands to dental practices, insurers, architectural firms, and educational institutions. It’s this diversity that keeps our work interesting. By understanding our clients’ core business, we are able to strive together for the best possible outcome in every transaction or advisory assignment.

A key part of my work is knowledge sharing within BRiQ. By continuously engaging in dialogue and analyzing the market together, we creatively match supply and demand. This often leads to the most innovative solutions and ideas. By sharing business cases and scenarios internally and collaborating across disciplines, we leverage our collective expertise. This enables us to deliver solutions that not only meet our clients’ needs but also contribute to the sustainable creation of value for their organizations.

Our slogan, Rethinking Real Estate, reflects this approach perfectly. For me, it means tackling real estate challenges with an innovative and creative mindset. We don’t think in standard solutions, but in tailor-made strategies that are carefully documented and implemented. This way, we create solutions that work today and remain future-proof. We also proactively consider how real estate can respond to growth, downsizing, or the changing dynamics of organizations.

Throughout every project, there is frequent contact with the client. We often jokingly say that we speak almost daily. This close collaboration builds trust and ensures short lines of communication.

And the icing on the cake? That moment when a client moves in and the end result becomes tangible. When I drive, walk, or cycle past the building and see the client’s name proudly displayed on the façade, our work becomes real. That is what gives the greatest satisfaction.”
