Martin Quist joins BRiQ as Partner to lead the development of new Fund Management business line

Martin Quist will join BRiQ in Rotterdam as a Partner as of 1 September. Within BRiQ, he will focus on establishing and further developing BRiQ Fund Management B.V. i.o., a new business line within the existing BRiQ platform.

Through BRiQ Fund Management, BRiQ intends to explore the opportunities for developing a real estate fund focused on commercial real estate in the period ahead. The proposed fund will have the characteristics of an opportunity fund, with investments potentially being made across different segments of the commercial real estate market, depending on market conditions and available opportunities.

Through its existing business lines, BRiQ has extensive real estate expertise and a strong position in the market. The organisation brings together expertise across capital markets, valuations, asset management, leasing and commercial real estate advisory. This provides BRiQ with early insight into market developments, transactions and investment opportunities.

The new fund management business line is intended to connect this knowledge and market position with investment structures and professional fund management in a considered manner. Particular attention will be given to robust governance, clear fund documentation, appropriate investor communication, and a well-considered legal and tax structure.

“BRiQ is an entrepreneurial real estate organisation with extensive expertise and a strong presence close to the market. It is precisely this combination that makes it interesting to explore how we can translate real estate opportunities into a professional fund structure,” said Martin Quist.

BRiQ emphasises that BRiQ Fund Management will be an additional business line within the existing platform. Serving clients and maintaining a strong focus on their interests will remain central to BRiQ’s activities. The fund initiative will build on BRiQ’s knowledge and market position, without compromising the independent role of its existing business lines.

The coming months will be used to further develop the fund strategy, legal and tax structure, governance, documentation and market positioning. The objective is to develop a structure that is appropriate within the applicable regulatory framework.
